"What colors are this dress?"

The completely random internet debate went viral within a couple of hours. It all started when a user on a social media blog site called "Tumblr" posted a picture of a dress. The reason why this dress has received so much controversy is because to some, the dress appears black and blue. While the others claim they see the colors white and gold.  Either side seems to feel very confident with what they are seeing right before their eyes.

At first I thought the whole thing was a joke, then I thought people were just being plain ridiculous. Even celebrities are being pulled into the social media craze.

I don't know what's wrong with me, I've been staring at it for a good ten minutes wasting my precious time. All I see is blue and black, the color of my knees after dance practice. I'm pretty sure it's what I see, although it frustrates me that my Twitter feed is covered in the opposite opinion. It looks as though the majority sees white and gold.

I continued to read about the mystery until I came across this, which I knew was a spoof when I saw it. It is simply someone looking for attention. They are quite clever.

So, what is the answer to the mystery? What do you see?

Scratch

For those of you who have never heard of it, Scratch is a website where you can program little things with color-coded blocks. It's easy to use, and I am a regular user on this site. I build these little games:

Dear Curious Random Person,

Thank you for being a curious enough person to open this letter up, and read it, rather than throwing it away. If you are an excellent English student, please excuse my bad grammar.
This letter is not for a project, nor an assignment. I am simply doing this as an experiment, for fun. I do things like this often. Out of the (who knows how many) students at (our school name), I am wondering what kind of person you are. Are you a boy or a girl? How old are you? What do you like to do? Do you like to watch movies? Play sports? To read? To dissect animals?
I am already starting to weird you out… shoot.
Let’s start over.

Sometimes our darkest secrets lie in our greatest truths.

NBA All Stars

The votes are in, and they are sending the players to New York. That's right, the NBA All Star game is back in the big apple, and what better court to play on then those Rose Garden in down town Brooklyn. The weekend began with the Rising Star challenge, a showcase for all the great rookies of the NBA to face off in a East VS. West showdown.

The Thing With Society

In life, we are little red riding hood, and the society is the big bad wolf.

In class we discuss how "the body is like a canvas" but aren't canvas' supposed to be filled with art?

Because instead of accepting and appreciating the art, we Laugh at a girl because her form of art is a birthmark covering half her face. Or the boy who was attacked by a dog and his form of art is  2 four inch scars running down his neck.

We say that art is a part of life, but only accept certain forms. We act as though, if our world was an art museum. for it to be close to any definition of perfect, Everything would be white. The walls, the canvas', everything. and they'd all be the same size. A perfect square.

But is it our fault? Is it our fault that we where raised in  this society?  That this is how we've came to be?

             In my opinion... No.

You see, that's the thing with society. We judge, because someone once judged us.

We refuse to love, because someone once refused to love us.

And in the end, some decide they're not worth it. because once, someone told them they weren't.

               So who's fault is it?

              Ours?

              Or society's?

They

They are the ones
who can't see
the humans
on either side of them
in their souls
and in their hearts
What does it mean to care?

You are the mountain
they have to get around
your backs are the stairs
that get them to the top.
does anyone really care?

Their eyes widen
when you fall short
they don't understand
or what life means
they can't see what lies ahead
they can only see
the "they" beneath.

They are you and me.

Gamers: The Living Misunderstanding

"We gamers are constantly stereotyped as lazy, antisocial misfits..." Begins my expos piece on mobile gaming. And yet, as I look at the world around me, everything in the gaming world is misunderstood. We hold the title of "gamer" because we understand gaming. We know what constitutes a good game and a bad game, we understand who should be able to play which games, etc. But many others believe the opposite.

Dimensional Travel Log 004

Just recently have I come across a startling new discovery. And yet, as I discover one new thing, many more questions have surfaced. On my travels, I was recently besieged by an unusual species. As I study them more, I only understand them less. What are these creatures? Why do they follow me so intently?

My Sport

I am a gymnast, have been for almost 11 years. I started when I was about two when my mom and I did a "Mommy and Me" class. I instantly fell in love with the sport and I have loved it ever since. Along the way I have had many successes and many, many failures. This is a hard sport, no matter what people say. Even when they say differently you know for a fact that there is no way that they are able to do any of the skills that you do on a daily basis at practice.

Dimensional Travel Log 003

It is the natural cycle of life for things to be born only to die at a later date. Worlds are just like that. This is one fact about the worlds that you have already discovered, or at least theorized about. In the famous problem, a cat is placed in a box with a random item that will kill it when it is knocked over. Is the cat alive, or dead? Many speculate that it is decided and fixed when you open the box. Others say that the world splits into two when it is opened. Most agree that the cat is neither alive nor dead, and that it is not yet decided. This is how new worlds are created- Any time a single variable can change the flow of a world, whether it is small or immense, the world duplicates.

NBA

http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings

Recently updated. The NBA power rankings are here (league wide ranking). The reason that this is so important to NBA fans is because it shows how good they are throughout the whole league. Typically, the rankings are based on division. The two NBA divisions are the eastern and western divisions. These  two divisions fair well comes playoff time, but during the regular season, it's all about the standing in the entire NBA. The reason I bring this up is because my home team, the Portland Trailblazers are currently ranked 3rd in the power rankings. This is a big deal considering that there two leading centers, Robin Lopez and Joel Freeland are both out due to hand and knee injuries, and as a team who has relied on there big men the last five years, having there two leading rebounders out looked to be catastrophic. But with the recent return of Chris Kaman (center), and Allen Crabbe (point guard), plus the recent elevation in game between Damian Lillard and Wesley Matthews, the Trail Blazers blew by the Eastern conference with a 3-1 eastern roadtrip record. Now hat time has past since those games. LaMarcus Aldridge has now since left the court due to a left hand ligament strain (6-8 weeks). But all in all, the blazers have created a franchise team that has a chance to go all the way this year in the playoffs. GO RIP-CITY!!!
