NBA All Stars

The votes are in, and they are sending the players to New York. That's right, the NBA All Star game is back in the big apple, and what better court to play on then those Rose Garden in down town Brooklyn. The weekend began with the Rising Star challenge, a showcase for all the great rookies of the NBA to face off in a East VS. West showdown. Next up on the All Star agenda is the 3 point contest. This was a really great event for the West considering about 75% of the players in the contest are from the west. We are talking people like Wes Matthews and Klay Thompson. After a hard fought battle, starting point guard out of Golden State Steph Curry came out on top to be the champion of the Foot Locker 3 Point contest. after all that shooting came a little ball handling. The skills challenge followed with some of the best ball handlers in the league. The biggest matchup of the contest was Brandon Knight and Patrick Beverly, two of the greatest low key point guards in the league. After falling behind in the championship round, Patrick Beverly caught back up to drain the 3 point and win the 3 point contest. The falling contest and probably the most long awaited contest of the weekend is the Sprite slam dunk contest. this year, with a line-up of entirely rookies, was sure to be the showcase for the new generation of the NBA. The contestants are Mason Plumlee of the Brooklyn Nets, Victor Oladipo of the Orlando Magic, Zach Lavine of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Giannis Antentokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. After the stunning 540 windmill slam by Victor Oladipo, Zach lavine snuck in to win it all. After a good nights rest, the All Stars met one final time on a cold Sunday morning at the Barclays center in downtown Brooklyn for the morning practice before the big game. Then came the moment of truth, the intros. After the performance by Christina Aguilera, they announced the bench for the east and west. Then down came the lights for the starting line-ups. headlined by Kevin Durant of the West, and Lebron James of the East. Then came tip-off. It was the first ever All Star game where two brothers started against each other. They jumped and the older of the two, Marc Gasol, one the tip for the West. The West the got considerable lead by half. But after rallying in the locker room, the East came out ready to fight. A very productive 3rd quarter for Lebron, the East were only down by 2. but the West need the win, after all, they were considered the dominate conference. The west one in a tight 4th quarter and the All Star MVP was awarded to Russel Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Now it's back to the regular season, where the fighting still goes on, and on, and on.

  1. For some reason, that final sentence reminded of this quote from Xenoblade Chronicles:

Fiora: Let's press on, and on, and on, and on!

That reference to an obscure game aside, reading this made me understand better the action and drama people see in sports. I personally don't really get what all the buzz about these things are about, but putting this in vivid wordings like this makes is easier to understand.
