Rapid's Expos: Why Mobile Games are Addicting

This is my expository in use since the Grizzly Invitational forensics meet in Nov. 15, 2014. As such, this script is meant to be read with visual aids. Either way, feel free to enjoy the script in it's glory.

We video gamers are constantly stereotyped as lazy, antisocial misfits. But why should we be ostracized? It's not like we do anything special. Most of you have a phone. And most of you with a phone have downloaded at least one free game. Today, everyone plays mobile games. Why do so many people play them? The fact that they're mostly free helps. But there's some sort of addictive quality to these games that makes them so successful. In fact, these games are specifically designed to appeal and addict, even at a neurologic level. Why is mobile gaming so darn addicting?

Tis' the season of joy

To me, the season of winter; Thanksgiving, Christmas, comfy clothes, fires in the stove, etc.., really begins when it gets cold outside. I just love it when I look outside the window, and it's sunny. The sun is noticeably lower but it is still sunny. It looks as if it is 83 degrees outside! But yet you go outside and it is freezing. The air chills your nose, making you feel stuffy, giving you a cold. So you go back inside, get a blanket, build a fire, and make hot chocolate. You curl up on the couch with you blanket, hot chocolate, and the heat from the fire, and watch a movie until the day ends. To me, this is winter. It's a wonderland.

Current Events (Polititcs)

One big thing I think that effects teens in our lives is the recent election of government officials. We also voted on measures to change the way we do things. I may not be old enough to vote yet, but it doesn't mean it doesn't effect me. One measure that was up for vote in my state is the requirement to label GMO's. They are saying that it could either raise the price of foods, but other people are saying that will stay the same. I'm not totally decided on the matter, but the way it would effect me is if it does raise the prices, it would make it harder for people like my family and other to buy groceries, making it harder to be able to afford every-day things. So far, nobody has been affected by this, but you never know with these things, people's sides and opinions change.

Fingerprint

I procrastinate a lot. And I'm lazy too. I do sports that take up a lot of my time all year long, so I'm tired a lot. I get stressed because of the homework I have and the time I don't have. sometimes I feel like I want to give up, not do anything for just a month but then I'd be bored out of my mind and I like to do sports with my friends. They keep me in line even if they don't know it. when I look at my fingerprint, I see a rainbow (because I colored it that way) and its upside down so all I can do is describe myself.

The Season of the Holidays

Starting sometime in November, the holiday season officially begins as nog is distributed in stores. The shelf time dedicated to nog is known as the Season of Nog.

Eventually, we soon enter the Season of Thanksgiving. Turkey, pie, cranberries... Full of delicious food with so much variety that no one is left out. Unless, of course, you don't like vegetables, you're a vegetarian, and you don't like pie all at once. Of course, the chances of that are slim. I've yet to meet a human being who doesn't like pumpkin pie.

Christmas Miracles

I was on the way to school this morning, and my mom decided to stop and get gas at Chevron. as we were getting gas I looked out at the main street and saw Christmas decorations on the light post. now that I think about it, I remember seeing some one with their Christmas lights up and lit, in NOVEMBER! I like Christmas as much as the next guy, but it's almost like it's a competition for the people in this town to see who can put their decorations up first. My mom even said she wants to go buy a tree right after thanksgiving. Again, it's NOVEMBER! I think people should wait until December 1st, almost to keep them on edge, and make the moment of getting the tree more special. My family is mostly German, and that's one part of Christmas that I like, the family and the German food. The slow cooked pork and the potato balls and all the German candy, (Germans make the best milk chocolate.) But  I just wish that Christmas would come sooner.

A Deeper Understanding

When you look around what do you see?
You see the grumpy old teacher, whom you thinks life goal is for him to yell at you and give you extra algebra 2 homework.
Like you really need that.
You see the girl who, every time you say hi just trying to be nice, glares at you, with such ferocity it would seem that you killed her family.
You see the loner kid of the class, he never talks. To anyone. Yet he is brilliant.
You see class clown. He always gets in trouble (mostly because of the grumpy old teacher,) and yet still laughs like it's his job. But there's just something off about him.

Poem: The Hidden Life of the Gamer

I'm a gamer.
Nothing I can do about that.
Take away the game,
Take away the heart.
Even though I'm stuck like this,
I don't want to leave.
But maybe,
If I never ended up this way,
My life would be much different.

Through our eyes, we see everything

Living my game,
Nobody takes notice.

Basketball

Some people think of basketball as a hobby, sport, game, activity, or time filler. To me, basketball is so much more than that. I play because I choose to. I choose to because I want to get better. I want to get better because I want somebody to ask me, "do you have any passions?" And me be able to say, "Basketball."
I go to the gym everyday. I put blood, sweat, and tears into it, literally. I work hard and play harder, because that's what I love to do, and when you love something, you don't just sit around and talk about it. You take actions into your own hands and show people that your not joking around. You do what you love and love what you do.

Finally

After a few weeks of inactivity and overdue work, I'm finally back in the group. I was stuck in science with 3 or 4 missing labs that I had to do over my PAT class. Thankfully, because of the grading day on Halloween, those assignments have been rendered moot. So now, I'm finally here. Sorry I'm late...
